Hi! I’m Carolyn. I’ve been working as a Pilates instructor for over a decade, and this year, I hit a huge career milestone - I graduated to working as a Pilates educator. In this journey of advancing my own knowledge, I’ve been drawn back to the basics time and time again. My clients are entrenched in the belief that the Pilates Principles hold the key to successful movement. In a world where Pilates has become incredibly popular (which is amazing! Everyone should get to experience the magic of Pilates!), I’ve sometimes found its message has become diluted.
Now, don’t get me wrong - contemporary takes and innovation only happen when old beliefs and methods are challenged and changed. I believe that movement in any form, of any name, that works for you is something to be celebrated. However, in the growing industry of Pilates, the original modality seems to be giving way to fitness without a clear understanding of why. Just because you’re on a Reformer, it doesn’t mean you’re doing Pilates.
My belief is; if you want to break the rules, you gotta know what the rules are. Let me teach them to you. What you do with that information is up to you.

Props: We will be using a soft Pilates ball for a number of exercises in this series. If you do not have one, please get in touch.
